Description: The Chehalem Cultural Center is looking for someone to fill an important role in our busy events department. We need a quick-thinking problem-solver, who works well with the public and doesn't mind physical labor. One aspect of our non-profit mission is to make space available to the community for special occasions such as weddings, quinceañeras, meetings, etc. We need help to make sure those run smoothly.
As with any small organization, all employees are expected to jump in and help where needed. Therefore, an eagerness to learn new things and do a good job far outweighs the need for experience. We are looking for a friendly, outgoing person to provide great customer service to our guests and support this growing organization. Bi-lingual a plus!
Hours would be mainly weekday and weekend evenings. You may be asked to work as late as 2:00am. We will try to work around your availability. There will be no guaranteed number of hours per week. It could be anywhere from 4 to 20 per week.
Audio/Visual setup and maintenance
Setting-up and taking-down tables and chairs
Climbing ladders to hang decorations
Removing art work from the gallery
Sweeping, mopping, trash removal
Other tasks as needed
This position is physically demanding. You will be required to push and pull racks weighing up to 50 pounds across the building, up and down ramps, through doorways and elevators.
Our mission is to inspire and enrich lives by connecting community and culture. With world-class art galleries, a state-of-the-art ceramics studio, several arts classrooms and studios, music and recording studios, a black box theater and a grand ballroom, the Chehalem Cultural Center is an all-in-one arts and culture facility. The Center is housed in a historic brick building that began its life in 1935 as Central School and parts of the building are still under renovation. Chehalem Cultural Center is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization celebrating the arts, education, heritage, and community.
The Chehalem Cultural Center is committed to advancing equity and diversity in all we do. We strive to foster an atmosphere of inclusivity, creativity, and respect so all feel inspired to participate and express themselves and their identities. The CCC believes the rich variety of cultures in our region enriches our lives. We seek to create space for dialogue that connects communities by offering voices of differing perspectives and circumstances a place to be heard.
