What happens when you combine a therapist, tattoos, Vans, a love for early 2000s pop-punk, and an unwavering belief in people's ability to change?

You get Mr. M.

Mr. M is the personal brand of Christopher McMullan, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, speaker, and passionate advocate for helping people recognize their strengths, rediscover hope, and create lives they genuinely enjoy.

Think a modern-day Mr. Rogers with a little more edge, a few more tattoos, and a soundtrack featuring Blink-182, My Chemical Romance, and Jimmy Eat World.

The message is simple: People are far more capable than they often realize, and hope is something worth getting loud about.

We're looking for a creative, motivated university student who can help bring that message to more people through engaging, authentic, and occasionally unconventional social media content.

About the Position

We're seeking a Social Media & Creative Content Assistant who enjoys storytelling, creating short-form videos, understanding social media trends, and finding creative ways to connect with an audience.

This isn't about posting generic inspirational quotes or making everything look like a corporate wellness advertisement.

It's about creating content that feels real, sometimes funny, sometimes challenging, and always rooted in the belief that people are capable of meaningful change.

You'll collaborate directly with Chris to brainstorm ideas, develop content, and help grow an engaging social media presence.

The ideal candidate is someone who can take creative initiative while maintaining the authentic voice and personality of the brand.

Key Responsibilities

Edit and produce short-form videos for Instagram Reels, TikTok, Facebook, and YouTube Shorts.

Design engaging graphics, carousel posts, and other creative social media content.

Collaborate on brainstorming sessions to develop fresh, relevant, and engaging content ideas.

Research emerging social media trends and identify opportunities that fit the Mr. M brand.

Schedule and publish approximately 2–3 original pieces of content per week, adapting them across relevant platforms.

Help maintain a consistent posting schedule across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, YouTube Shorts, and Threads.

Contribute ideas for increasing audience engagement, visibility, and organic growth.

Work independently on content production while collaborating regularly to maintain the brand's voice and direction.

Who We're Looking For

You might be a great fit if you:

Enjoy creating content and understand what makes people stop scrolling.

Have experience editing short-form videos using tools such as Edits, CapCut, Canva, Adobe Premiere, or similar programs.

Understand current social media trends, platform algorithms, and strategies for organic growth.

Have strong creative instincts and enjoy visual storytelling.

Can appreciate a little sarcasm, humor, and an unconventional approach to mental health conversations.

Are organized, dependable, and comfortable managing creative projects independently.

Have an interest in mental health, personal growth, storytelling, or helping others.

Appreciate early 2000s pop-punk and emo culture, or are willing to learn why it matters to the audience!

Bonus points if you're studying marketing, communications, digital media, graphic design, psychology, or a related field. However, students from all academic backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Previous professional social media experience is not required. Creativity, reliability, and a willingness to learn matter more.

What You'll Gain

Hands-on experience managing and growing an authentic personal brand.

Opportunities to develop your creative portfolio through real-world projects.

Experience producing content across multiple social media platforms.

Direct collaboration with a therapist, speaker, and business owner.

Creative freedom to experiment with ideas, storytelling styles, and content strategies.

Flexible scheduling designed to accommodate university coursework.

An opportunity to contribute to a brand centered on hope, authenticity, and making a positive difference.

Schedule & Work Environment

This is a flexible, primarily remote position requiring approximately 3–5 hours per week.

Occasional in-person collaboration or filming sessions may take place in Newberg, Oregon, with scheduling coordinated around academic commitments.

The position focuses on creative content and public-facing marketing. It does not involve clinical work, client records, or confidential therapy information.

How to Apply

Interested students should submit:

A brief introduction sharing why this opportunity interests them.

Examples of creative work, such as social media posts, short-form videos, designs, or a portfolio. Personal or academic projects are welcome.

A short description of a social media content idea they think would fit the Mr. M brand. (check out IG @hopewithmr.m)

We're not looking for someone who has everything figured out. We're looking for someone creative, curious, and excited to help make something meaningful.

Big ideas, good humor, and a little rebellious creativity are always welcome.
