Red Hills Church in Newberg is excited to announce a new internship program! Please thoroughly read through the program description before applying. Thank you!
Program Overview
- The purpose of the Red Hills Church Internship Program is to empower, resource, and equip students pursuing vocational ministry through practical, tactile, and comprehensive ministry experiences.
- The program’s primary focus will be crafted around each student’s interest, career goals, previous experiences, and desired outcomes for an internship within their chosen ministry track. This internship intends to create an environment for the student to experience hands-on training, memorable experiences, practical resourcing, and guidance in spiritual disciplines.
- Interns will fall under the guidelines and expectations of both Red Hills Staff and individual ministry departments. Therefore, students will be held accountable for codes of conduct, lifestyle expectations, schedules, and ministry activities/projects outlined by the internship program job description and specific department lead. Directors will work together to ensure that all expectations and requirements are complementary, consistent, beneficial, and executable for the student.
- Students will train, shadow, and implement varying skills within the chosen ministry department, giving them a wide breadth of practice and experience.
- Students will be expected to maintain weekly tasks and/or small projects as assigned, participate in weekend gatherings, and ultimately perform complete management of their ministry’s contribution on a weekend gathering.
Lifestyle Expectations
- Lifestyle expectations will extend beyond the hours of the internship and will be expected to apply to all areas of the student’s life, including but not limited to: social media, home life, personal hobbies and activities, social groups, school, work, and church. Students should be confessing Spirit-led Christians who hold to the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel (ICFG) Declaration of Faith, as outlined at:
- Students will be required to refrain from any sinful or immoral practice, indulgence, speech, or activity as outlined in Galatians 5:19-20. Examples of such prohibited conduct include, but are not limited to:
- Drunkenness; lying; sexual relations or activities outside of marriage and/or homosexual, bi-sexual, or trans-sexual relations or activities of any kind; substance usage (including smoking, tobacco, illegal and/or recreational drugs); witchcraft; idol worship; hostility and/or outbursts of anger; violence; use of weapons; crude, vulgar, or degrading humor or speech; profanity; stealing; provocative dress, behavior, or speech.
- By contrast, students should exhibit signs of spiritual growth and development, modeling characteristics such as, but not limited to:
- Grace, gentleness, peace, patience, joy, contentment, goodness, righteousness, self-control, love, faithfulness, compassion, diligence, discernment, faith, forgiveness, generosity, gratefulness, humility, obedience, responsibility, sincerity, truthfulness, wisdom, virtue.
- The Ministry Department Lead, Lead Pastor, Connections Pastor, and/or Executive Pastor will function in a mentor-type affinity with the student and will be at the superior’s discretion to address, correct, rebuke, or challenge any perceived sinful or immoral behavior, conduct, or activity.
Schedule & Compensation
- Hours –With the exception of required group meetings, interns will work directly with Ministry Lead to determine specific weekly hours. Interns are expected to work 10 hours per week with compensation of $8.80 per hour, for a total stipend of $80 per week. The fall and spring terms of the internship program will span 10 weeks, for a total payout not exceeding $800 by the end of the internship. The summer term will span 12 weeks for a total payout not exceeding $960 by the end of the internship.
- Weekly Assignments and/or Projects – Throughout their internship, students will participate in weekly tasks and/or small projects to help them grow in their ministry of choice. These assignments can range from prepping for events, assisting the Ministry Lead in upcoming services, or training in a specific skill area. Interns will meet individually with their Ministry Lead to determine the week’s specific task, skill development, or shadowing opportunity.
- Weekly Mentor Meetings – Each week, all interns will meet together with the Connections Pastor for a mentoring discussion to further spiritual growth, answer questions, discuss critical topics, and offer accountability.
- Monthly Professional Meetings – Once a month, all interns will meet together with the Executive Pastor to coach in topics of professional development, discussing topics such as resume building, HR basics, job interview prep, budgets, etc. This meeting will be in place of that week’s mentor meeting with the Connections Pastor.
- Lead Pastor Meeting – Once during the duration of the internship program, all interns will meet together with the Lead Pastor for a Q&A opportunity on the topics of theology, conflict management, and navigating difficult conversations. This meeting will be in place of that week’s mentor meeting with the Connections Pastor.
- Other Events & Final Project –Interns will attend and participate in at least one Staff Meeting during the program. Interns will also be expected to assist in church-wide, all-ministry events (such as Easter, Vision Dinner, etc.) and/or Foursquare Regional Events if they occur during the scheduled course of their program.
- As the Final Project for the program, interns will utilize all learned skills and training to oversee and manage the entirety of the specific ministry during a weekend gathering. The Ministry Lead will be present and available to assist as needed, but the goal of this final project will be for the intern to take the term’s worth of experience and function in place of the Ministry Lead for the final weekend of the Internship Program.
- Post-Program Celebration – Following the conclusion of the Internship Program, interns will be invited, along with their choice of 1-2 guests, for a final celebration luncheon, as a thank you from our church staff.

“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To Him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.” (1 Peter 4:10-11)
