Description: With the passing of our pastor, Bellfountain Community Church is seeking a lead pastor to serve God in the foothills of the Oregon Coast Range. This is a unique opportunity for someone seeking a rural/family/community oriented ministry. The church team includes an elder board, part-time secretary, other church leaders, and congregation members. Starting date is flexible. The Bellfountain Community Church has been a part of the South Benton County Area since at least 1856. The church building itself dates back to 1899. This is an inter- denominational church serving a rural community with farming, ranching, forestry, Christmas trees, and vineyards. Church core beliefs are outlined in the Bellfountain Community Church Constitution and include: a reliance on the Bible as the authoritative Word of God; the belief in one God existent in the Father, Son and Holy Spirit; and the atoning death and resurrection of Jesus. A complete Statement of Faith is on the church website. The motto for Bellfountain Community Church is: Enjoy God, Love People, Serve the World. About 80 people attend Sunday church services and others from the community attend the numerous church activities. Church activities include AWANA and Vacation Bible School; high school youth program; separate men’s and women’s Bible studies; and children's church. The church also sponsors other activities such as youth, women’s, family camps, and retreats. The church property and buildings include a pastor’s parsonage. Across the road the church owns a gymnasium, school building, storage buildings, sporting field and baseball diamond, and playground and tennis/basketball courts. Possible duties include but are not limited to planning and leading the Sunday worship service, delivering the sermon, participating in worship events and groups, coordinating prayer requests, providing hospital visits, officiating at weddings and funerals, overseeing the maintenance of the church grounds and buildings, and other responsibilities needed to allow the church to meet the spiritual needs of it members. While needing to work with the church teams, we believe that ultimately the lead pastor is accountable to God. Above all, the successful candidate should love God and wish to serve him in Bellfountain, Oregon. Minimum requirements include: a degree from a seminary or Bible College, or five or more years of experience as a pastor; fluency in English, communicates well with diverse groups; and has some experience in counseling for life experiences such as marriage, divorce, unplanned pregnancy, addictions, and death. Other desirable skills could include: knowledge of Greek or Hebrew, Spanish or other languages; computer literacy; musical gifts; or other skills that assist pastoring a church and revealing God’s love. Utilize/teach the weekly children’s curriculum, provided by supervisor Children & Youth Ministries Coordinator. Maintain current child profiles with parent contact, allergy, etc. Report any nursery supply needs to supervisor for purchasing. Assist with hand-washing and sanitize the nursery according to the cleaning chart. Terms of Employment - The Governing Board is responsible for oversight of church personnel and sets employment policies and salary/wages. The Children & Youth Ministries Coordinator provides direct supervision and conducts performance reviews. There will be a performance review after an initial employment probationary period of 90 days, and then performance reviews annually. A professional development allowance is available to cover First Aid/CPR and related, required trainings.
